The Shopkeeper
Old Christchurch Rd Residency

An immersive fiction and installation project by Lisa Moro

The Shopkeeper is an evolving speculative fiction residency based on Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth — a street known for its layers of commerce, decline, and reinvention.
Working from a studio space directly on the road, I’ve embedded myself in the rhythms of the street: observing patterns, overhearing stories, and imagining new ones. This project reimagines Old Christchurch Road as a site where reality and fiction have begun to blur — where strange new shops appear not on business directories, but in memories, ephemera, and speculative interventions.
At the core of The Shopkeeper is a growing network of fictional establishments. These shops are expressed through installation, augmented reality, and audio storytelling.
One part of the project is a fictional podcast series titled Beneath the Counter — an investigative audio archive narrated by Trinity Pine, documenting the strange and secret transactions taking place across the road.
This project is funded by Arts Council England.
